This is Wit Storyline Review:
Season 1 Episode 3: Funeral For A Friend
Spoiler Warning:
After discovering their friend Adam wasn’t actually dead, Mike, Nick and Adam still end up attending a funeral…for Adam’s Xbox 360 which succumbed to the infamous, “Red Ring of Death.”
Now, I’m a sucker for the whole, “funeral for something inconsequential,” gag that has been used multiple times in movies and cartoons throughout history. Because of that, I love how delightfully stupid the whole thing is presented as. The slow panning shot revealing it’s a broken game console they’re mourning, the crying in the background while Mike goes on his rant, Adam and Nick just suddenly dropping the Xbox during the procession and the throwback to Mike’s 100th video with the infamous, “You want me to fluff him?” gag was just great. Though if I’m being honest, this definitely is one of the overall weaker episodes of season 1. It’s funny, but towards the end it feels like the gag has been spread to thin and loses some of its effectiveness.
Storyline Update:
After using The Origin Code to discover what happened to Adam, our three protagonists hold a funeral for Adam’s broken Xbox.
Final Thoughts:
This is a pretty damn funny episode, but I don’t really know how it fits into the overall plot and it’s main joke kinda gets run into the ground.
